Guest guest
Hi paula, I think I've caugtht up on posts now, and realize you were in the path of one of the hurricanes--so glad you didn't have the damage from earlier storms! This has been the worst surgery I've gone thru yet, partly because of the effects of the anesthesia and the meds. They did an intra- scalene block, and I can vaguely remember one of the docs holding me down and that I was shaking--he said the electrical stim really set off a reaction. Then I woke up after the surgery vomiting--that was fun! There was a group of nurses around me, and they were commenting on the fact that my whole right side was bright red, like someone had drawn a line down the middle of my body and painted me. Saturday morning when they came to releae me and check the bandages, I had huge blisters from the adhesive. And don't even get me started on what happened when I wet the bed because no one answered my calls to help me to the commode! When the nursing assistant came in, she at first apologized that she didn't come sooner " but I was having dinner. " Then she proceeded to give me hell for wetting the bed. Getting back to the scalene block, I think it has caused some problems with my neck because I keep having spasms that go around through my ear and up into my head--feels like my ear is being twisted off. I go for my first PT session this afternoon and hopefully things will start getting better. I stopped taking the Percocet last night as it was making me feel worse than the pain. Tonight is T or T for the kids (if it doesn't rain) and I will see my 4 little characters--TJ is Dale Jr., and the triplets are the lion, tin man, and scarecrow. I just look like the Wicked Witch! Take care, Judi
