Guest guest
Hi Y'all... My name is . I am Betty Crow's daughter. I knew she was a member of this group; but, I had never really " looked into it " - because it was something personal; and, figured it wasn't my place to nose-around in her personal business like that... Anyway, I went ahead and logged in using her account today to " nose-around " to see if there was anyone in this group who she may have befriended. There are so many posts in this group, I was not able to find any from my Mom; so, I still don't know... So, I decided to just go ahead and post the news to the whole group... My Mom, Betty J Crow, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2005. She had been suffering from RA for about 8 years that I know of. Additionally she had begun to have heart problems several years ago. Then, as if that weren't all enough, she was Dx with Lung Cancer about a year ago. She died from complications of the cancer. The only thing I really know about her RA was that it made her miserable; and, she was in constant pain from it - up until she started chemo for the cancer. Ironically, the chemo actually helped her RA a LOT (most the lumps on her arms, etc disappeared and until the cancer got a good hold on her, she had a lot less pain from the RA while receiving chemo. *That* was the only good thing to come of the chemo - as my Mom was allergic to all five treatments they tried over the course of the past year - which is why they were not able to bring her into remission... Before the cancer/chemo; the only other treatment she REALLY seemed to benefit from were the gold injections; but, of course that ended several years ago to her dismay... The reason I'm posting this tidbit about the chemo is: My Mom had never been told that chemo is one option to trying to manage RA. It's not real " mainstream " because the chemo treatments are so hard on your body; but, come on - RA in general is freaking hard on your body, too! Other than bringing this info to you, I really couldn't tell you any more about it than I've already posted - since my Mom was receiving the chemo for her cancer and not for her RA... If you want a bit more insight to my Mom's illnesses/death, you can check out my " blog " and read the entry from last night: http://blog.360./blog-x9G217g9crVBnyQoh.QuKw-- Take Care, Y'all! Sincerely, ~ Y Selk Selk@...
