Guest guest
I have RLS also. I have a friend in OKC with RA & RLS. She swears by putting a bar of soap under the bottom sheet at the foot of your bed. Shan heard it on Harvey ....I tried it, and I don't know if it was all in my head but seemed like it helped some. We both use Caress soap, btw. I've heard that you should not use a deodorant soap which is kinda hilarious.. What helps me the most (night time is the worst) is to lie perfectly straight, tense up all over, then consciously relax from the toes up to the head.(I learned this stuff from a holistic nurse back in the early 70's.) Mentally focus on the area you're trying to relax, start at the feet & work your way all the way up to your neck & head. Or pretend that you're empty, and gradually filling up with either cool or warm water, whichever sounds more pleasant. Takes some practice but it helps me. Or I try to picture things that relax me (rocking grandbabies to sleep, visualize being in a nice hot bubbly spa, picture floating on a cloud...) I also like lavender essential oil for relaxation. I always get real tense when the legs start getting those " creepy " feelings and if I can get relaxed it seems to diminish the creepycrawlies. I meditate anyway, and this is kinda along the same deal. Probably sounds way, way " old-hippie-ish " , huh? Showing my age here....(sigh) Hope this helps someone. Peace, yall! Guest guest
Oh yeah. I have it too!! For me it seems to start with the legs and then it will eventually go into my arms and my back. I just can't stand it!! It's even worse now because I blew my knee out and it is difficult to try and walk the restlessness away. Has anyone found anyway to help with that? I hate to add more pills.....Marina --- In , " Cami DeFries " <gsplovers@e...> wrote: > > This is off-topic (maybe)...does anyone suffer from Restless Legs > Syndrome? Guest guest
Jane, I do not think you sound like an 'old hippie' at all! LOL! I meditate too!! I'm lucky...my RLS acts up very rarely...maybe once a month or even less...I've even went a few months in-between act-ups. My grandfather got it every night. He used to get up every night around 11:00 or 12:00 & make root beer floats or eat leftover pie, etc. I used to love to spend the night with my grandparents...grandpa & I used to always have root beer floats together at midnight...we used to joke about it being 'our date time'. LOL! My mom & brother have it also...mom's acts up once a week or so and my brother has it daily. Ugh! For me, it actually bothers me mostly in my back & arms more than my legs, although the other night I had a leg episode. Drives me crazy! Have you tried the 'new' medication that's out for it? Just curious. ((((Hippie Hugs)))) Cami > > > > This is off-topic (maybe)...does anyone suffer from Restless Legs > > Syndrome? I have this & it can drive me crazy! Guest guest
Marina, Isn't the back the worst?! Ugh!! I hate that!! I really haven't found anything that completely helps...except smoking. That actually does relieve the RLS along with RA pain, etc. But, beyond that, I just meditate...sometimes that helps, sometimes I doesn't.
