Guest guest
I am so appreciative to hear people's struggles, especially of the older children with OCD. It seems as if we can never be 100% with what goes on with our kids. My question to you is, Is it better to have a child be more content with their social life versus stronger support for education needs. I'll tell you why I ask that. My son who is now in 10th grade is attending a private school after failing the public school. He had an IEP in place and I chose not to wait through all the meetings in order to get the support that would work. So in the middle of 9th grade I transferred him to a school that works with kids and learning challenges. He has not been able to really make friends and is limited to the variety of activities available compared to the public high school. Now I don't know if his medications somewhat interfer where he is at but it sure has calm the OCD down. (celexa and Abilify) He has plenty to work on that but is a whole other topic I could discuss. He probably has some executive function issues that challenge him too. I' m leaning towards letting him return so that he can maybe gain better social skills, (which is his mode of thinking that he'll find more people to interact with) I appreciate any input.
