Guest guest
My 8 year old son is having extremely violent/sexual thoughts that are in contrast to his personality. We have been doing research and he has all the symptoms of Bad Thought OCD. It is so bad now that he is extremly depresssed, cannot function at school or in a normal way due to these thoughts and having to confess to us. He is also thinking he may have done things that he has not. We are lost, sad, confused and heartbroken for him. He is such a sweet boy, I would actually call him on the innocent side of 8 and these thoughts are horrific, beyond anything horror movie(which he has never watched:) Anyway I took him to our family doctor and then to Childrens hospital ER yesterday(we are in Seattle) They couldn't help us, because they cannt diagnose in the ER and he is not suicidal. I have an appt with a counselor on thursday but so far the providers do not seem familiar with this type of OCD and seem to focus on trying to find out if he has been abused in some way. I have read that this happens a lot and I don't mind them asking but I want to get on with helping him. He is out of school and so distraught. #1 should I tell his school (I have been wrned against it because he could be " labled " ? #2 Do I need to see a certain specialist for them to be able to recognize bad thought OCD? #3 Any suggestions to help him in the meantime? We are lost out here, thank you
