Guest guest
Hi Guys, Well, I saw the infectious disease Dr. today. He is very nice and took time to track down my lab work from home healthcare. He then explained the results and showed me how much progress I am making, and how far I have to go. The good news is that my sed rate and crp rates are falling. These are still eleveated and show the amount of inflammation in my blood. We both think this will stay somewhat elevated because of my stills disease and not being able to treat it with immunosuppressive drugs. I still have elevated white blood cell counts and platelet counts, but they are coming down. My hemoglobin, hematocrit, iron and size of my red blood cells all came in too low. The decision has been made to start me on iron and to double the dose of Ancef (antibiotic) I am getting in my infusions three times a day. I am going to have to have a few tests to make sure I am not losing blood anywhere else, but I don't think I am. All in all, I am still making progress, but I guess I just have a long way to go. Home health will continue to take blood from the port in my chest weekly, so we will know if I am getting better or worse pretty quickly. Just an update!
