Guest guest
It depends on who you ask. Some doctors will say that a glass of wine is harmless, while others say it can cause serious liver damage. You should discuss this with your doctor since he is monitoring your liver for damage. If your enzymes are normal, he may say a glass on wine or a beer is fine. If your enzymes are elevated, he may say you should abstain. a On Nov 26, 2005, at 12:29 PM, morg332000 wrote: > Hi all, > Hope Thanksgiving was a great day for all. > > I've only been on this drug and hyroxychloroquine a short time. > > Drinking is not an issue for me. Guest guest
That's exactly what my doc said. But, with my liver enzymes already elevated due to the MTX, he suggested that I abstain. So, I do. Usually!! Once in a blue moon I may have one drink...Marina > > It depends on who you ask. Guest guest
The safest option is to abstain from alcohol while taking MTX. Did you discuss this with your rheumatologist? I would. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Hi! When I told my doctor that I was going to a family reunion, he said, " Remember, no drinking, no matter what, not even a little bit to be nice at the party. " I figure with all the crud I have to put my liver through just to get by, I better not push my luck. That's my opinion, anyway, but maybe your doctor isn't as cautious. You could ask him. laura morg332000 <lubrazzi@...> wrote: Hi all, Hope Thanksgiving was a great day for all. I've only been on this drug and hyroxychloroquine a short time. Drinking is not an issue for me. But, with Holiday time coming I'm wondering just how serious do you all take the no drinking issue with these drugs. Please understand I'm talking about a glass of wine or one beer to be sociable. Thank you M

Guest guest
Hi . MTX can be toxic to the liver. That is why people on mtx must get blood tests regularly to monitor liver enzymes. Caught early, liver damage can be reversed. Drinking alcohol can speed up liver damage, so it's best avoided while on mtx. If your liver enzymes are ok, I wouldn't worry about what you did in the past. a On Nov 28, 2005, at 7:54 AM, Sidwell wrote: > What does drinking do? > I drank on this just twice. > I did not know that it was harmfull. > >
