Guest guest
Hi Adrienne, Does your daughter do well with social stories? I've used them for years with mine, plane rides included, and they help a lot. Also, have some juice or water for her to drink during take-off and landing to help with the funny feeling in the ears. Are you using an airline that has TV's built into the back of the seat in front? More and more airlines have them. It's great because your child can watch cartoons or whatever and click around and it can really keep her occupied. Also consider having a " bag of tricks " --snacks, little coloring books or toys that are new to her. You might wrap the up and let her open one every 1/2 hour or so. Guest guest
Hi Melinda, Thanks for the heads up about the juice for taking off and landing. I will definitely have the little " bag of tricks " . Her therapists have been doing the social stories with her. They have been doing the plane one this week. We are flying Continental to land. I am a little nervous but hopefully everything will be okay. Do they let you preboard the plane and do I need to let the flight crew know about her? Thanks again. Guest guest
It might be a good idea to give the flight crew a heads up, just in case you need an extra hand, or they may be able to move you to the front row or something (for easier exiting at the end, always the worst part of flying with kids who can't wait!) You should be able to board first too. They MAY even let you go on first so she can check the plane out before other people get on, depending on what their schedule is like and how late they are running. Guest guest
Hi Agree with Amnesty they will let you preboard. If not by yourselves then definitely with the " people who have small children and/or need extra time " bunch that they always announce for. Also remember to tell her ( put it in the stories) about the airplane bathrooms. I don't know how big your child is but you can just barely squeeze in there with her. And it's loud. Best of luck! Guest guest
When I ride on planes my ears hurt. I find it more tolerable to be in an aisle seat. Nadine Plane Ride Hi guys, We will be traveling to land next week and this will be 's first plane ride. I need some advice on how to handle the plane ride with her. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks again, Adrienne from Texas
