This past July, I attended the Changing Minds Conference in Texas, and learned about a “protocol†to help my son, who has Down syndrome.  We started our son, Mac (6 years old), on the protocol this summer and the changes we (and others) have seen in him are simply amazing! He went from struggling to remember words to now learning 6 new words a week. In two months, he has started to read!!

 

My husband and I have been so excited about Mac’s progress that we felt it was time to share this information. We are hosting a conference on November 20th in Madison, WI to present and discuss groundbreaking research results on memory and learning in Down syndrome.  Cody (Houston TX), founder of the Changing Minds Foundation and mother to Neal (12) who has Down syndrome, will be the featured speaker. Neal has been on the protocol for four years and has had tremendous results.

 

Cody has been connected with the Stanford Down Syndrome Research Center, whose groundbreaking work has lead to the discovery of a therapy for significantly improving the memory and cognition in people with Down syndrome.  


 

In addition, we are thrilled to have Joanne Mothes (Columbus, Ohio), a national expert, who has been teaching reading and math to children with Down syndrome for over 38 years. Joanne will be discussing this new protocol and the profound effects she has seen in teaching reading and math.
