Guest guest
Throw the baby out with the bath water,, all I've seen at this group is loving parents talking with other parents for advice to help their child... kassihatestwistin wrote: You know that I have no problem with fixing that. I've had metal poisoning. That isn't autism (it's gone. still autistic). I have a gluten intolerance...Ive been gluten free for ages. Still autistic. What I have a problem with is throwing out the baby with the bathwater...saying that all of autism is bad and should be eliminated because there is a cluster of associated problems that should be fixed. The gut problems, metal toxicity, seizures that sometimes happen, fix those. But the genetic component isn't going away without killing some really valuable traits too, and some valuable people. So fix the biological problems, and teach today's autistic kids how to adapt to their differences, instead of that who we are is wrong (like my generation and the one before me, if we were identified, be it as autistic or just as different). Just my two cents. Most cure mentality, at its core, also throws out a lot of good and not just the bad-and this list isn't as bad as many with that-but that is what got this line started. Kassiane who doesn't doubt that everyone here loves their children, does have other musings, but has enough empathy to not pose them to risk hurting parents the way parents hurt her every day when they say the world would be better without people like her.
