Dear Ken, I have several friends that have glaucoma and it is treatable. One

friend has had it for 10 years and although she has to have eye drops several

times a day she is far from blind.VA has cavalier attitude for something that

should have been attended to immediately. Sorry you are having all this crap

coming your way.

Now, I know that lots of you have problems that far outweigh mine in

severity, put it still kind of slays me that they could just " forget " . makes me

wonder what else they have forgotten! I can't go anywhere BUT the vets, 'cause I

have no insurance, no savings, and no Dr. to go to other than them! Bummer!

Anyone else ever run into this kind of situation? I know so little of

glaucoma...all I know is there is no cure and you go blind. Any info on this

would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for listening to my petty problems!

Ken, it is treatable. My sons recent eye injury created trauma induced glaucoma

and the surger he had this weekend to repair his eye included retinal

reattachment among a score of other things, but it will cause cataracts that

will need to be removed in 6 months.....but we have drops for the glaucoma

part......

As for the VA....oh my, I am so upset with our VA this week, I could spit nails.

Our extremely neagtive and risky things our VA hospital has done are enough for

me to write and entire book....but we are in the same shoes as you- where else

for husband to go? I am lucky cuz I have ChampVA nw for me and the kids...and

my Medicare....but hubby is stuck to the VA for everything. That place gives me

nitemares. The nly consolation ere is hat our local ER also gives me nitemares.

Quality healthcare is not always easy to find.....depends on your geographic

location, I guess..and your luck.....

Hang in there.....my thoughts are with you! And yes, I am a loudmouth and I do

get involved in lobbying to get you guys better care....and our families.

Currently I am especially sick of care providers looking at my sons ChampVA card

like we dropped from outter space.

As long as they don't forget you , you should be fine. Glaucoma is

treatable. I have a friend who was diagnosed at 18 (very rare), and

she is now pushing 40, and is perfectly fine. You just need to keep

on top of it. Now you know you have it, I'm sure you won't LET them

forget. Shoot...I wouldn't let them forget that they forgot!

anything, DID you? "

she is now pushing 40, and is perfectly fine. You just need to keep

on top of it. Now you know you have it, I'm sure you won't LET them
