Ari Ne'eman, Presient of ASAN. sent me this message:

FYI. Am not ignoring you and I really appreciate you reflecting that I'm not doing that in your e-mails. I'm preparing for a meeting with the new HHS Office on Disability Director on Friday. He has the ability to get more Autistic reps on the IACC and to do something on abuse of Autistic students in schools, so it's fairly important. My plan is to write a detailed response to you on Saturday. You can pass this along to your listserv.

That letter was written by him to me one week ago, and to date he has not written his response as he promised. Members will recall that in post #47100, I wrote:

What I asked Ari (among other things) was:1) Whether or not you are a representative of ASAN.2) Whether or not you were given the responsibility of giving a letter to Tony Attwood on ASAN's behalf.3) Whether or not he is aware of your behavior on this forum.4) Whether or not this behavior typifies that of the ASAN organization.I also asked for a status report on certain things Ari and I were supposed to be working on together, namely:1) A joint operation against an autsm organization's refusal to allow anyone other than Autism Spekaks to speak to Aspies at their meetings.Months ago, Ari said he would assist us with this by providing an ASAN representative to contact the organization in question and negotiate a satisfactory outcome.He never did.2) The publication of a paper Ari asked me to write for him on autism and bullying.He has received the paper months ago, but failed to publish it.3)The listing of MIC on the Ransom Notes request in exchange for our e-mail list.He took the e-mail list to expand his organization with, but failed to list us as signatures on the petition.And so you can see why I find the crediblity of ASAN disturbing, especially in light of your behavior on this forum.Administrator

My initial letter to Ari was written on 5/18/2009.

GP on, who claims to be an ASAN representative, quit this forum, disregarding members' opinions on these issues. Note that she quit the forum on the date Ari wrote me a letter promising a response.

In post #46966, we read:

Secret Society post# #46948, she says:

I note that that article is dated a couple of days after ASAN contacted Tony regarding his position and alignment with various groups who denigrate our ability to form relationships. I know the contents of the letter because I sent it to him by registered mail.

I can only conclude that Ari has either forgotten to address our concerns, is too busy to address them right now, or simply does not care. I think, at any rate, that the delay in responding, and the behavior of an admitted ASAN representative on this board are reprehensible, and people on the spectrum should take this into consideration when electing whether or not to support ASAN in the future.

Ari is a member of these FAM forums and is free to post anytime. Yet to date he has not responded to anything that has been written here.
