Its like I've said before. Autism is the ADD of the new millennium. Plenty of doctors and pharmacists jumped all over ADD and made a lot of money, but no telling how much harm they did to the kids over the years. ADD was likewise considered fairly rare until the diagnostic rules were set so broad that a lot of normal kid behavior was included. What a lot of those kids needed was a little more exercise to burn off energy and a different teaching method than the cookie cutter style used in schools even today.

I'm a little ADD but fortunately got good enough grades and wasn't overly disruptive so I avoided the DX for it, that and I was in school in the 1970's and 1980's so it was before the ADD fad struck. I was able to learn best from lectures since the listening gave me something external to focus on. Reading was and is difficult because my mind wanders and I get antsy sitting for too long. Its really annoying since I do enjoy reading. My point being that my learning style was auditory with breaks to get up and move around. Many other people are primarily readers or other visual and some are combinations.
