""Globally we believe that we are at phase five but are getting closer to phase six," said Keiji Fukuda, WHO assistant director-general, referring to the agency's six-level pandemic alert system. " One state already is now only reporting H1NI in certain areas instead of in the whole state. http://www.emaxhealth.com/2/90/31461/north-dakota-suspends-testing-suspected-swine-flu-cases.html North Dakota Suspends Testing Of Suspected Swine Flu Cases "Because North Dakota Department of Health surveillance indicates that the new H1N1 influenza virus, also known as swine flu, is established in Ward County and being transmitted from person to person, the Department of Health will conduct laboratory testing only on suspected cases in Ward County that are hospitalized, according to State Epidemiologist Kirby Kruger. "Suspending routine testing in Ward County will allow us to focus on identifying cases throughout the state," Kruger said. "We know swine flu is in the community; therefore, the most important things people can do to slow the spread of the disease are to cover their coughs and sneezes, wash their hands often, and stay home if they are sick." So states are nearing the point where they can no longer keep up with verifying the number of cases. At any rate, we are now nearing the point where it will be beyond the ability of States and the CDC to analyze and confirm H1N1 cases and deaths. When that point is reached, the US won't know about the true reach of the pandemic and people will falsely assume that the flu is just progressing normally and mildly. That will be when the things get bad because there will be quite a few deaths that will occur, and quite a few unreported cases, both of hospitalizeations and n0n-hospitalizations will still be reported through word of mouth. People will think the government is conspiring to conceal the true spread of this pandemic. The fact is, as I have said, to exceed the number of regular flu deaths per year, 100 people per day would have to die from H1N1. That averages out to 2 per state per day. Obviously, states with low populations would report fewer and states with high populations or high population densities would report more. Reporting methods vary from country to country as well, with some countries reporting only deaths which are purely of swine flu without contributing factors or people with health problems. Thus reporting at present is deceptively low. Remember, it is summer in the northern hemisphere, when regular flu goes some for the season. Yet swine flu is running strong and getting stronger, despite newspapers saying the opposite. Administrator
Guest guest
We are getting told that in the cases seen here it's presenting as a treatable and not particularly harsh type of flu. If this is a lie to keep us happy, how quickly will the angry reactions of relatives become widely known? Some medical department is trying to look on the sunny side, anyway. " There have been 30 deaths in the US so far and over 100 in Mexico. Not sure what the UK is claiming. It's serious. Never doubt it. Guest guest
If the next outbreak is big, first there will be shock, then probably a great deal of anger. Just how much anger will depend on how bad the outbreak is and just how much the government has lied about it. I can also see a great deal of trouble if the disease breaks out during a vacation season and people are told not to go on vacation, or not to come home, to control the spread. It is kind of interesting though that H1N1 seems mostly to target the young, but it was brought into the US seemingly by kids going to Mexico for spring break. If this is a lie to keep us happy, how quickly will the angry reactions of relatives become widely known? Some medical department is trying to look on the sunny side, anyway.
