My daughter was on Clomipramine and had many side effects. She thrashed in her

sleep, her hands shook, and was pale. She has also been on Luvox and a combo of

both. She tolerated the Luvox better but would get to a certain dose, do well,

and then crash. When she would crash they would up the meds and when she got to

a higher dose she started to gain weight rapidly (has doubled her weight in less

than a year)....Every kiddo is different and some kids can be on meds and not

have the side effects.....(hate the side effects).

Good luck

mg of prozac for 4 months and her psych wants to change to either luvox or

clomipramine or a combo of the 2. She is still struggling with intrusive

thoughts and rituals. my dd has braces and I'm wondering about the dry mouth

side effect and also the irregular heart beat issue.

Hi there! My daughter is ten and on clomipramine, as am I. She actually hasn't

had any side effects that have been noticeable to her. Clomipramine is a little

sedating so she takes it before bed with a lot of water and a cracker or piece

of bread.

The one thing I do know is you have to make sure the capsule gets to the stomach

before laying down, otherwise I have had some heartburn and so has my daughter.

So in other words, don't take exactly right before bed, give a half an hour or

so to be up right so it has a chance to travel into the stomach.

My daughter is on 50 mg and it took about 2 months, but she is herself again and

intrusive thoughts are mild in intensity and she is able to deal if they come.

Clomipramine also is known by the brand name Anafranil.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :0)

Your dd should have a baseline EKG if she'll be started on a tricyclic

antidepressant. If the baseline EKG is normal, you should feel OK to start it.

My 16 yr. old son takes 200mg anafranil with 100mg. luvox. He has a tremor, dry

mouth, and sweats really bad. It's the only thing that helps so he puts up with

it. He tried to go up to 250mg and 150mg but the side effects got too bad.

Rapid heart rate, trouble speaking, uncontrolable movements. It scared us so we

tried to take him off meds but his OCD was just too bad, so we're staying with

this dose.
