Good luck Laurie. It's hard to move from your home.Does anyone know if there is a Medicaid program in IL similar to the one in TX and FL? A co-worker said there is an excellent program in MA as well.Best,MauraTo: DownSyndromeInfoExchange Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 8:36:53 AMSubject: RE: [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] Re: Florida Medicaid

Laurie,

In Florida the Medicaid program you have in TX here is called DD Medwaiver. It is Medicaid not measured on income or assets of the family. It is Medicaid because you (your child) have a Developmental Disability. In October 2010 Florida passed a new rule that places children in a CAT 8 which is the last category of all eight. Means that the wait for use was about 10 years to get on the Medwaiver has now gone to our kids will never get on the waiver until they are adults and us as parents aging and the threat of being homeless or in harms way... Our web site is myflorida.com search categories final rule for medwaiver. I believe it is dated Oct 2010.
