Texas -- Two El Paso residents who had swine flu died from influenza-like illnesses, health department officials confirm. A 24-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man both died while receiving treatment at a local hospital. Laboratory tests conducted after they passed away confirmed that both had novel swine flu, said the City of El Paso Department of Public Health. The woman, who was pregnant, died on May 24. The man died on May 19. The cause of their deaths remains under investigation. " We are saddened to announce the first deaths linked to influenza-like illnesses. Our sympathies go out to the families, " said Hill, director of the El Paso Department of Health. " Any flu-related death is tragic.
