Guest guest
Hi Bj,  I know, we do have a shortage, and I just got my son's H1N1 yesterday am.( I'm really concerned becasue it is all over this town, and my son has probably already been exposed.) I guess it takes 5-10 days to build up immunity with the shot. I had to argue to get him the shots.  They are only giving them to the " high risk " group now. I cannot even get my girls the seasonal flu shot and my daughter with OCD has asthma, but seeing she doesn't take the inhaler every day they don't consider it severe asthma so she couldn't get a shot. She is the one who ended up in the hospital with bacterial pneumonia for a week !!! We were told here that anyone under the age of 24 should be vaccinated. Here is the recommendation from the CDC. . . . ************ ********* ***** 2009 H1N1 Recommendations Who will be recommended to receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine? CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends that certain groups of the population receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine first. These target groups include pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age, healthcare and emergency medical services personnel, persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old, and people ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems. ************ ********* ***** I wonder if they told you that because there is such a shortage. They are only offering the " high risk " group the shots right now around here > Hugs > judy > > > >
