My child is 19 months with Down Syndrome and we started her on it when she started taking a bottle around 6 1/2 months. She wouldn't take it through a dropper, it was kind of messy and stained, that's why we waited until she was a little older. Of course it's hard to know how much of a difference the Nutrivene makes when you start them so little, but she his making wonderful progress - especially cognitively. She is on the verge of walking and her therapists always tell me how impressed they are with her development. I'd like to believe that the Nutrivene has made a difference. I would highly recommend that as well as it is a powerful antioxidant and people with Ds have higher oxidative stress to the cells of the body than people without Ds. Sosie is 28 mon now and doing beautifully. I researched the heck out of ds and vits and suppl when she was born. A wonderful woman asked if I had ever heard of shaklee. She got me a phone consult with a well known nutrionist in nashville (I live in louisville). I asked a ton of questions explaining my fears of free radical damage, alzheimers, etc. She explained to my about how shaklee products are 100% pure. No secret ingrediants that the body doesn't want. Trust me that is not common. I will try to foward a harvrd study I was sent about that. Anyway, sosies development has been remarkable and so has her health. It has actually changed my whole family's life. I could go on and on. If any one wants info on this or to speek with that same nutrionist, I can set that up for you. That was so wonderful to speak to her and find out what sosie needed and why it will help etc. The best thing is that I can consult her about anything if I really need her. Nutrivene has been targeted to meet the specific nutrient needs of those with an extra chromosome. Their needs are different than the general population. There are some things they should not have at all, or in small amounts. And some things that they should have a lot more of. And it’s all because of differences caused by overexpressions or lack of things because of the third 21st chromosome. Shaklee does such EXTENSIVE reasearch on every product it uses, continuously. I have been able to get Sosie ( and the rest of us ) very healthy. Also Sosie's ds issues have been addressed with the nutrionist that i spoke of and she takes products directly related to that. I am sure Nutrivene is a great product, but shaklee had done alot more than just help her cognitively. The whole family has benifited. Please call me if you have any questions. Your blog is REMARKABLE, but all I mean is that every individual is different even if you have down syndrome. I feel that I am doing my best in keeping Sosie healthy and happy through Shaklee. I am thoroughly impressed with their 80,000 tests they do on all their raw materials repeatedly to make sure that nothing harmful is also with the "good stuff" that can actually cause more oxidative stress. I think nutrivene has done a wonderful job in showing the world that nutrition can make a huge difference in individuals with ds. My study of Nutrivene is what led me to Shaklee. Shaklee had helped make a difference in Sosie's life but also her 3 brothers and my husband and I. I am honestly not trying to take anything away from Nutrivene. You have been a blessing to me as we begin this adventure with Hope. Your site was the first I had read regarding ds. Your family is so similar to ours, except ya'll have got us beat with 11 as opposed to our 10. I am also encouraged to hear that you know and love the Lord. He has been so faithful and has proved Himself over and over again.I am about to order Nutrivene and I was wondering what exactly you would recommend for Hope who is now 7 weeks old and weighs about 8.5 lbs. ? The Nutrivene site is a little overwhelming so I wanted to make sure I was ordering the right product(s).On another note, I had a question about immunizations. Although my pediatrician has been fine with my decision to delay shots with my other children, he has told me that he is going to press a little harder that Hope receive some. I am assuming that he is talking about the whooping cough and/or the hib or any others that may effect her respiratory system. Your blog made me curious as to what your mom had to say in regards to vaccinations. If you are willing to share, it would be a blessing to me.I know that you are a blessing to your family and that your little brothers and sisters have a great big sister who would go above and beyond to care for them.
