I find it amusing that people considered Power Rangers "violent." If they ever bothered to watch the shows, it was about as campy as the 1970's Godzilla movies. People in dorky costumes fighting laughable monsters and doing so in a highly rigid and humorous style.

Also, to try to blame this on his being on the show is silly. That show ran for a very long time in its various incarnations. The main cast changed fairly often, especially the few female characters who seemed to change by the season, and that's not counting the extras and bit players. Given the sheer number of people who had something to do with the show, the fact that one of them committed murder should be no surprise.

All that said, I wasn't a fan of the show. It was always too campy and overdone. The most I would do is watch a little now and then when flipping through the channels. That's how I noticed the female Rangers changed so often. The guys looked more or less the same, but the girls change race as much as face: an Asian to an African-American to a White girl. Not sure about after that.

`Power Rangers' actor convicted of murder

Remember Skylar Deleon? No? Maybe you remember the show that made him a

semi-star, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Well, according to WENN, Deleon has

received the death penalty for murdering an Arizona couple.

Shocked? So are we. The former child actor, who played an extra named on

the controversially violent show, was sentenced in the deaths of Tom and Jackie

Hawks. Deleon was also convicted of killing Jon Jarvi in 2003, in an incident

not related to the couple.

He was convicted of chaining the Hawks to the anchor of a yacht they were trying

to sell him and throwing them overboard in 2004. Their bodies were never found,

and Deleon claimed the yacht as his.

While Deleon's lawyer asked for a life sentence instead, the jury handed down

the most severe penalty. Orange County Superior Court Judge F. Fasel gave

the verdict last Friday.
