Vaccines on Law & Order SVU

Tonight's episode of Law & Order SVU involved vaccines, specifically the MMR.

The plot was that a young, irresponsible mother lost her 8 month old daughter. Turned out later that the child was dead and died of measles. She got the measles from a boy who's mother had not vaccinated him.

During the trial, the Medical examiner was asked about side effects of the MMR vaccine. She went through a list of them, but did NOT include Autism.

I was rather surprised by that. Several times autism could have been mentioned as a reason to not take the vaccine, but it never was.

Looks like science is beginning to gain some ground.

On the other hand, I did see an Autism Speaks commercial the other day, at 2 AM. Used to see them all the time, but not so much anymore.

If you take a look at their tax forms (IRS Form 990) for earlier years, you will

discover that they spend more in fundrasing than they take in, and most of their

grant money they spend on study. They cannot afford to buy prime time commercial

space in mass quantities.
