Guest guest
Thanks everybody for your input. It gave me the umphf to finally get her enrolled in a local play-based preschool three days a week. It's a co-op so I'll get to observe how she does & guide her as needed. It looks like a great match for us. She can go with no dx (at this point) and if she needs me, I'm there. I also got an appt to get a referal for a full eval. I think I may have some serious momma-blinders on for her. With my boys, I had no problems seeing the language issues (delay in one, anomolies in another, hyperlexia in the third), but with my daughter.... blinders. I'm currently using Gutstein's RDI materials. Anybody have any other good recommendations for approaches & strategies that work well with girls? Thanks again. --
Guest guest
Hi , The preschool sounds great, and I'm sure you will see gains with your daughter's social skills. A full-eval is probably the way to go. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Like you we have been utilizing some RDI activities. We're not doing a full-blown RDI treatment plan, but we're incorporating the concepts into our lifestyle. I've also found social stories to be effective with our daughter, especially in dealing with her anxiety about new situations. Lori > > Thanks everybody for your input.
