I would definitely check with the doctor about the possibility of a urinary

tract infection. This can cause or contribute to accidents. Other

possibilities, in my experience with my daughter: anxiety, medication (including

OTC cold

medication). How old is your daughter? Can she tell you in any way if she is

having discomfort?

Does she have a bladder infection?

Tolieting regression?

Has anyone been on the right track with their girl using the bathroom

only to suddenly have her having accidents during the day after shes

finally been trained for over a year???

I was thinking maybe she's just experimenting with how long she can

hold it?? Sound like good thinking?

Last night she had two accidents back to back. I've talked to the

school to see if anything was off there. They said no.

Would and infection cause her to have an accident? Any other medical

condition??

My daughter is 6. She may. I asked her if she had any pain when she

went to the bathroom, she said no but you know how literal these kids

can be.

I have a call into the doctor now. She's not on any meds. She won't

take them even if she had to. We do better with injections. Go

figure, bloodwork is not a problem here?!!?

I asked the school about anxiety issues or changes they assure me that

there is none.

Hi !

My daughter has usually had accidents when her schedule is off. I'm not

sure if she really recognizes her own body's signals, I think she just follows

her schedule and it has times to go to the bathroom so she does. Then when

there is a change in schedule, for an assembly at school for example, she will

have an accident because her regular opportunity didn't happen and she didn't

recognize the need to go on her own.

Allie has also had accidents when she was so engrossed in something she just

couldn't leave off doing it for a moment to go. That is usually when she

has the accident practically in the bathroom door because she held off too long

to hold it!

BTW, when you said " last night " did you mean in her sleep or during the

evening before bed?

I work with high-fuctioning high schoolers...They refuse to try ahead of time

because they swear they don't feel the need to go, until they have to rush to

the bathroom.

Also, an ASD consultant I have worked with for my child, has told me that

typically they (boys and girls) don't feel the urge to go, like nt's. My child

has to be on a schedule that includes timed breaks.

No bladder infection. So we wait to hear back from the behaviorist.

I think the doctor was uncomfortable with the idea that she had

autism. Spent about 45 seconds with us.

The nurse was much more personable then the doctor...not our

regular. She of course said if it continues to follow up with our

regular doctor.....this is what made me feel like she didn't really

understand autism. Dah it's behavioral and this may be a reaction to

something she can't verbalise.

We'll see.

Thanks for your reply, Sandi.

My daughter has been daytime trained for almost 2 years. Night time

trained for almost a year.

I'm talking about accidents that happen during waking hours. She

will still have night accidents regularly so that doesn't worry me

too much.

Many of the accidents were at home. So I'm not sure about your

therory. I suppose?

My daughter refused to use a certain bathroom in school when she was in first

grade, because the one-on-one aide and he r500 pound cousin tta were

harming her physically. I had to remove her from school and they moved the

woman, but she never had to answer to anything, because my daughter was

completely non-verbal at the time.

Look into some of those things for her sake.
