Guest guest
ummmm I don't know about people with autism being cured?? Everyone is unique, and not all people respond the same to treatments, meds, etc. From my OWN experience many different types of treatments help, we never rely on meds as a first resort, and I hope no meds would be permanent but I consider all options. And...over time, things have certainly gotten better for my daughter. Am curious, what kinds of treatments are you referring to? If you've heard something interesting, please share. And that this is done essentially drug-free? Or is this a drugs-only OCD group?
Guest guest
Guy, This is a very open group. We have people treating their children's OCD in a variety of ways, so all viewpoints are welcome! Dina
Guest guest
Hi Guy, this group is for parents with children suffering from OCD. Of course, many have other dx as well. Are you a parent? Medication is often discussed, and many use prescriptions, but we also have those who use other methods/ways to treat. And of course therapy is always discussed. Having a son myself who is on the autism spectrum, I hesitate with the word " cure " - even for OCD! > > Being new, I don't know the group. > > Are you familiar with the fact that autistic folks are being esentially > cured of their disorder? > > And that ADD, Tourettes, OCD and other disorders are apparently similarly > treatable? > > And that this is done essentially drug-free? > > Or is this a drugs-only OCD group? >
Guest guest
I am fairly new to the group as well, but as far as I can tell, this group is a " whatever is the best treatment for each individual child " kind of group. Many kids need medication and some do not (like my own daughter). I, personally, will do everything possible before I consider medication, so I would love to hear your insight. It's not that I don't believe that medication is sometimes necessary, it's just that it scares the you know what out of me. Anyway, welcome to the group. Guest guest
Whatever it is you have found success with, stay with it! You're right - you don't know this group! Don't ever " assume " that we members here have given up and simply resorted to meds. You haven't read enough if you believe that. I hope that your path leads you to an answer to your child's problems. We are always open to new ideas and research, but never judgement so be careful about what you preach. >
