That's what I mean. None of them seem to escape. Its like New Orleans and a few other places around the country. Politicians just get corrupted no matter the party.

CHICAGO (AFP) - Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was indicted Thursday

on federal corruption charges alleging " pervasive fraud " after he purportedly

tried to sell Barack Obama's vacant US Senate seat.

Blagojevich, 52, was charged with 16 felony counts, including racketeering

conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion conspiracy, attempted extortion and making

false statements to federal agents, the Justice Department said.

US Attorney Fitzgerald alleged that Blagojevich used his office to

obtain money, campaign contributions and jobs for himself and others " in

numerous matters involving state appointments, business, legislation and pension

fund investments. "

aldermen and councilmen and scores of state and federal level politicians, there

must really be something wrong with Chicago. "

There is something wrong with Chicago and with Illinois. And no party escapes

claim for being corrupt. Former governor , who came before Blago, is in jail

I believe many politicians have powerful egos...egos that are attractive to

voters. Thus politicians who have high opinions of themselves and an overly

optomistic opinion of their abilities get elected.

But people with big egos tend to be overly affected by assaults on them. I think

they compensate by striving to do what they promised so as not to fall into

disfavor with voters, and they take any means necessary, legal or illegal to

accomplish this. And this is where trouble begins. Crimes are committed.

Generally speaking, the bigger the evil, the more you have to watch the

politician.

I believe there is a difference between ego and confidence, BTW. Bush was

confident, not egotistical. That he is not criticizing Obama now that he is gone

is proof of this.

Clinton was egotistical. He could not stay out of the limelight after his last

term was up. He did the talk show circuit and had something to say about

everything Bush did for a good long time. He was nearly impeached while in

office, and some of the things he's said about other candidates for this

Presidency were near scandalous.

Judging by his lack of experience in politics, there is no way Obama knows what

he is doing. He cannot be driven by confidence. It must be ego. This is merely a

supposition at this point. Time will tell.
