Guest guest
I'm considering taking my 3 yo girl in for a full evaluation. We have several boys, all who have various forms of ASDs, as well as husband with AS. It appears to run thick in our family lines. So far, in my 3 yo I'm seeing lots of relational play, ie she's very interested in human interaction, but... I'm also seeing: * coldness, even mean-ness, around other little kids * general frustration, like she wants to be with others but doesn't really * fascination with flashcards, grouping objects by likeness No one would ever call her autistic by looking at her, but I think if that maybe underneath the veneer, she may need help. Is there anybody else on this list who saw traits this early? Thanks. --
Guest guest
I'm not sure if you're asking about seeing traits of Asperger or autism in general. My daughter had a regression at 9 mos, she got a dx at 23 mos. So, yes, I definitely saw traits that early. One thought I had in reading your post is that all your boys are on spectrum, some of her behaviors might be from having siblings with autism. The meanness and frustration might be from getting the mixed messages from her brothers and then not knowing how to relate. Have you considered a preschool for your daughter? Perhaps having some time during the day with NTs might help her understand social expectations better if it is the case of confusion. Guest guest
Thanks, I'm doing okay. Mack was taken off his ventilator Saturday and died within a few minutes. We held the funeral Tues. and burial on Wed. We spent every waking minute either at the hospital or SIL's house. So sad, still in shock. Trying to get caught up on internet stuff and school.
