HI ,

I am one who believes in many homeopathic treatments and would love to hear more

about what the Dr. is doing in your daughters case. Are you allowed to share or

is there a website that gives more detail about this?

Thanks and continued good luck with your daughters treatment. I know how happy

you must be to get some of her OCD under control.

this would be my first reply as this message really hit home.  I have an 11 year

old daughter that has had OCD since she was four and the predominant theme

around her rituals has always been fear of becoming fat. She is a repeater

mostly because she has to think " thin thoughts "  when she is doing many daily

tasks.  If she doesn't think it " just right " she has to redo the task over and

over.   She is not anorexic but we have always been on the look out for

symptoms due to the relationship of Anorexia and OCD in the spectrum

of disorders.  She is very thin, and eats selectively but so far we feel she is

eating well and try not to make a big deal out of what she eats.  We have been

in  CB therapy a couple of times  over the years with a Psychologist that is

affiliated with Memorial in WI.  We have tried to manage w/o meds but

this past spring she came to a

> " stand off " with her therapist and would not go back to therapy.  Our only

options became prescription meds or Homeopathy.  My brother-in-law is a

Naturopathic doc. in NC so we decided to try Homeopathy first (I was/am a tough

sell on homeopathy because it is hard to get  your head around how it works and

in this world of evidence based practice it's hard to find much that is

clinically document in outcomes w/ homoepathy).  He referred us to a Homeopathic

Doc in Montana that has a strong focus in Behavior Health.  We started in June

and have been on 2 different remedies and although it hasn' t completedly

" healed' the OCD as they claim it can,  she is having very good results.  She

went from not being able to get in the house at night (too much repeating), not

able to get in her bed (sleeping on couch or floor), not able to dress

(sometimes taking hours - thus avoided changing clothes and showering), having

rages and horrible defiant

> behavior to having a muched happier mood, no defiance (other than the usual

preteen stuff) and rituals that have are much shorter and managable.  We still

don' t know if we are on the right track (waiting to see if we get rid of more

rituals and occasionally have small setbacks when it's time to increase the

potency of the remedy - typical with Hom.)  but the HD feels confident we should

be able to get her body to " heal " the OCD.  I know it sounds crazy, but this has

been the best thing that we have tried so far.  I think the challenge, from what

I understand, is finding a homeopath that has good credentials (as they are not

regulated in most states) and finding one that has experience with behavioral

health disorders.  I just wanted to offer this up because I know prescription

medication is heavily relied on and not always helpful in some cases.  I am

still keeping an open mind and have certainly not ruled out RX meds but for the

time being

> it' s nice to have something that is helping that is considered extremely

safe.  OCD certainly is a roller coaster ride, and personally, I really hate

roller coasters!   My thoughts are with all of you as you manage the daily

struggles of having a child(ren) with OCD.  It can really be exhausting and

confusing at times.
