Guest guest
Some of you asked me to let you know what happened with my sons attempts at making the golf team. We had decided to try using Xanax to relieve his sports performance anxiety for the 2 day tryouts, with the OK from the docs. But even at a 1 mg dose, (the only other time used successfully was at .75 mg) he still reported a good amount of nerves. So, unfortunately, he did not perform well, and ultimately was a first round cut. Sigh. The strange part is that right after the second day of tryouts, he golfed with a few friends and golfed his best game ever, a 47 for 9 holes! Once the pressure was off, he could play to his ability. Then, he went home and slept for 3 hours, unusual for him, but I'm thinking it must have been from the Xanax. Not sure where to go from here to help relieve his short term anxiety spurts. It seems the Xanax was ineffective and there are no shortage of future situations which will create a panic situation for him (academic tests, other tryouts, just sports in general). It may be time to try raising his Prozac to 50mg but it feels so high to me. But, on the other hand, I really want to avoid any more use of the Xanax. This kid just can't get a break.
