I talked to my doctor about this.

The hair loss is most always associated with the MTX. I noticed that my

scalp was sensitive after being on the drug for a few weeks. Next I

noticed my hair getting thin but not falling out as you experienced.

Itching may be a sign of liver problems and at least some of the drugs used

to treat Still's can affect the liver so if anyone has a lot of itching not

associated with the Still's rash it's probably a good idea to let your

doctor know and make sure they do some tests to ensure your liver enzymes

are within norms. Especially if the itching has become unbearable. It

could indicate a liver problem. I know lots about liver problems because

of my daughter's PSC disease. You want to talk itching... talk her. She's

an expert on that topic.

Glad to hear you are feeling so well and the hair is growing back in.

I think I am going to push my doc to take me off the methotrexate as I don't

feel it's the best choice at this time. Not sure which drug I will replace

it with but I am leaning towards the Kineret based on what I have read here.

Hi ya all,

About hair loss. I too had a lot of that with meds. I went and asked our

pharmacy guy and he gave me hair vitamins called 4 hair and it worked. Not only

did it help reduce the hair loss but grew some nice hair back.

Hi Marty,

I would think so as it didn't say on the bottle anything about male or female.

It's good and it took about a whole bottle of taking I think it was two a day

for me as I am small and weigh very little, but read the back and it started

working withing the first two weeks and after the first bottle I did get another

one but it just kept working. The pharmasist said something about hair loss not

only being from certin medication but also loss of vitamins in the hair. It sure

wont hurt to try it. Ask your Pharmacy if they have it.

  • 3 months later...

Hi,

I haven't touched bases with you for a long time. I am one of the original

Still's gang, I am so sorry to see that there are so many new people with

still's. I am so glad that they are able to diagnose Still, so much faster. It

also looks like there is some hope.

I am still on the mailing list and monitor our group.

I have been in full remission for 2 years. My question is has anyone gone in

to full remission and lost all or almost all of their hair? Did you find the

cause? I had waist long hair that was super thick. In the last 3 months I

noticed I was losing my hair. Of course, because it was so long everyone said

it was in my head. Well, I only have a little tiny bit of hair left, and it is

still falling out.

Now all anyone can say is well at least your not sick ... what is that

supposed to mean? You know how it goes with this disease. I do feel very lucky,

but...if anyone has any answers please let me know.

Thanks, hope everyone has a pain free day

Hi Barbara,

I wish it was the case of losing weight. I told you I am wearing size

Junior 1 & 2

but I still weigh 120 lbs. I have big bones so can weigh more then most and

still wear a small size. I should have put in the e-mail that I have had

every blood test, He could think of. The one thing is that I just started

Menopause a few months ago. But my hair is falling out like I had

chemotherapy (nothing)

That is why it is so scary. No one in my family had thin hair. I started

using rogaine about 2 months ago, so I do have new growth.

My doctor thinks I had some kind of shock to my system and it affected my

hair.

It usually takes 3 to 6 months for it to show in your hair. I will get a

e-mail off to your personal e-mail soon. I hope everyone stays as pain free as

possible.

Love, Dottie

Hi Dottie,

Good to see you post, but I'm sorry to read about your lovely hair! When you

went into remission, you lost a lot of weight, right? Perhaps you should see

your doctor to make sure you haven't lost too much weight. Your doctor can take

blood tests to make sure you aren't lacking any nutrients. If everything is

okay, your doctor may have other ideas to help. Take care of yourself, hon.

Much love,

Barbara

Hi dearest Dotti;

So long and so happy that you are in remission.

I just have to share that evidently there was an inherited spotty baldness in my

family and I got it. The first of this year before I took Remicade or Mtx I got

a fifty cent size bald spot. This is not the first time but was the biggest one

I've ever gotten. It is now filling back in.

Maybe your problem could be the same, I don't know but I sure do empathize with

the feelings.

Good luck, Melt
