Guest guest
Hi; What I actually said was; 'In Canada, I have met people who had polio as a child, some with 'pox' from Small pox, a person who had a lung removed due to Tuberculosis. (in the 1950's) BUT I have not encountered some one with those diseases active.' By encountered, I meant personally met or came in contact with, I did not mean heard of, like in the news. In retrospect it would have been more accurate for me to say: 'I was not aware of encountering (meeting) someone with those dieases active. However, when I developed a cough that would not go away, shortness of breath, and tiredness, I wondered if I had acquired TB." I was aware that there are strains of TB resistant to most treatments. In a later post I did acknoweldge: "My contacts and knowledge of the people I meet are quite narrow or limited, I might have met people who had tuberculosis or other diseases but don't know their background." The postings on diseases and vacccinatons in this thread were really informative to me who had been 'clueless.' renaissanzelady " ... <snip> ... " In subsequent posts, renaissanzelady indicated that she had not heard of anyone in the present who had been diagnosed with TB. http://www.mykawart ha.com/news/ article/38505 Needles sit neatly in packages beside nurses as they perform tuberculosis scans on students at Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute.Cotton balls are placed near the yellow bio-waste bins in the classroom off the side of a mechanical shop. Outside, students ranging from Grades 9 to 12 are lined up, waiting for their turn to have their forearms pricked. "Initially, I was concerned," says Holly , a Grade 12 student, about finding out that a student had been infected with pulmonary TB ... <snip> ... Looking for the perfect gift?
