Guest guest
The Blockbuster here must have been better than the one near you. The employees here were knowledgable about the movies and were always ready to help out. The problem I have with them is that the store is now about 50% games. That means all of the old movies are now crammed into the shelves and it is hard to find anything. The problem with the games is that I only have a Wii and won't spend the money on the other systems, and also the manuals are rarely with the games you rent, which makes it very hard to play them. All of the other video stores have failed around here except Blockbuster. Video World went out a decade ago and the little private shop went out maybe 3 years ago. The store here is usually busy and gets cleaned out on the weekends. I know they made some mistakes, but I would like it if they stayed open. I prefer going to the store to browse rather than looking it up online. It is also easier to find other interesting movies. In a message dated 4/8/2009 12:48:47 P.M. " I think the difference between the stores up here by me and the ones down there by you is that your stores are filled with folks who know what southern hospitality is. Up here, near Chicago, you're on your own, and salespeople only grudgingly help you out. Whenever I travel down south, whether it is to a sit down restaurant or to a store, there are always friendly people there. If someone messes up in a restaurant, they want to make ammends as best they can. So I am betting that the Blockbusters down there are better by virtue of the people they have staffing the store. Probably those stores -which I am betting perform comparatively well to the ones here in the North- are just getting swept up in the tide of demise that is affecting the whole chain. Guest guest
Southern hospitality can be hit and miss, but generally you will find it most places. The few times I have been up north, I can see why northerners like coming south so much. Many times I have been in a restaurant and have the silverware thrown on the table by a surly waitress who looked at me not like someone paying her wages, but like an imposition on her free time. There have been exceptions of course. I have had some very good tour guides and some people in restaurants and shops were very nice as well, though I will admit that I think it was because some of those people thought I was British. I guess they had never heard what I call a "high Southern accent" which is very close to an English accent. Like I said though, you can get surly people in the South too and there are also a lot of rough dangerous types just like up north. Its not always easy to tell them apart down here though. A lot of people you see dressed kind of rough are actually decent enough people, its just that they work rural jobs or are just dressing down because they don't need to be wearing a suit and tie.
