Guest guest
Hello again; In the past few years, I realized that people seem obsessed with knowing what others look like, either meeting them face to face OR seeing a photo of the person. Some of it is probably just social conditing. In my work I talk to hundreds of people over the phone, during any month. Some are customers, some are our part-time contract workers. Upon occasion one of them will later come into the office, and if I am the one who serves them, they ask " are you...? At last we get to meet. " I politely say 'yes', and go along with a bit of small talk. The expression 'put a face to the name' has been around a while. For example, many real estate adds in our local newspapers will have a 'mug shot' of the listing realtor. (all smiles and gleeming teeth and 'big hair') Other businesses also will have a mug shot of sales reps etc in an add. This interest in knowing what someone looks like may be normal human curiosity BUT could also lead to discrimination, example against a minority person. renaissanzelady
