Guest guest
Over the last couple of days I played a little on my computer casino game. I was quickly reminded why I dislike Poker;a combination of bad luck and a finely tuned ability to discard cards, only to have the same numbers dealt back to me, thus meaning I could have had a pair had I chosen another card. Craps is complicated, though I'm sure I could sort of understand it more if I bothered to learn, but I don't since house odds are very high. Baccarat I can play, though it is merely a slow tedium of betting "bank" over and over since it has the best odds of winning, at a penalty, so you might slowly accumulate winnings. Blackjack I am better at and do alright, though I do play foolishly sometimes, not that it matters since it isn't real money. Here are some results from the games and they are interesting. Keep in mind that with all of these numbers, but holdings never went above $14,000 nor below $8,000. See just how much money actually moves through the system. Mind you also that I never took extra money from the house. The variance is simply based on winning and losing. Also, with Blackjack, I can't count cards, I only use money management and basic strategy. Black Jack Number of hands played: 251 Number of hands won : 104 Number of hands lost : 124 Number of Pushes : 23 Number of Busts : 31 Average Bet : $161.76 Total Amount Bet : $40,601 Total Amount Won : $5,471 5 card poker Number of hands played: 84 Number of hands won : 25 Average bet : $83.36 Total amount bet : $7,002.00 Total amount won : $1,301.00 Now, keep in mind what I said above, just before posting these numbers. You can see how much money changes through the system and how the casino can make so much money. It is roughly 7 dollars per 1 that you actually end up winning. Small wonder Vegas got so big. Kind of a negative version of the multiplication power of money. Another point is that I set a floor that if I reach I quit playing. I also have an adjustable minimum that follows my winnings so that if I go back that far, I know I should stop to lock in whatever winnings I might have already made. That one is flexible though, the floor is not. PS: Don't take this to mean that I suggest to anyone to go out and gamble. Far from it. The odds are against you in the long run and you will eventually lose. If I play long enough, I always hit the floor I just mentioned. This game is just one of many that I have played over the years and I'm sure I'll eventually hit a point where I start up a file because this one hits the floor. In reality, I'll never go into another casino again because I know how easy it is to lose big. Sad things is, casinos these days are designed to make it so that you don't even care. Why do you think they serve alcohol and use colored chips instead of cash? If you were soberly pushing around stacks of actual currency, you'd wise up real quick and run. I have played blackjack (or was it poker?) in the context of amodified version where there is nothing at risk except fictionalmoney. Playing for money is a bad idea because it is too easy to getemotional and take brash risks. Need a job? Find an employment agency near you.
