Guest guest
Please forgive the OT of this post. My 48 yr old BIL suffered a " massive ischemic stroke " last night. Right now prognosis is 30% chance of survival past 5 days. I think it's probably a thrombotic ischemia, I don't think they consider it embolic. I'm looking for any advice/suggestions. One thing we're wondering about is stimulation. Would it be better to give his body time to rest for a few days, or would it be better to get in there, do some brushing protocol, play his favorite music, etc? We're wondering if more stimulation or less would be better? t-PA was not given, but is on a heparin drip. Any suggestions would be welcomed. The hospital he's in doesn't have a neurology wing so I feel the need to research what the leading treatments are to improve his chances. Pls feel free to email off-list.
