Guest guest
" In 2006, the area above the magma chamber began rising at 2 to 3 inches per year. This year, the number of earthquakes is four times above average. " Yellowstone erupts about every 600,000 years. The last eruption was 640,000 years ago. " We're really going to miss all that farmland that is now under subdivisions and strip malls if that thing goes off. " Anything can happen. I think the magma will begin to rise faster as time goes on given that the crust becomes less resistant as it gets closer to the surface while the magma does not cool appreciably. Hard to say when we could see an erruption. But here is something to consider: Not only are we late for Yellowstone, but we are late for the new Madrid fault to break, and late for another major earthquake in California.
