Guest guest
Thanks everyone for all your congrats and best wishes and applause.... Whew! We moved him in Wednesday at college. Left home to go around 8 am and left there, I guess, around 4 pm. Got there in the a.m. a little before 10 so it was a long day. We did meet his roommate. He arrived but didn't move in. He lives about an hour+ away, and I guess just wanted to come over and see his new place. Said he had planned to move in that day but it didn't work out (he didn't say why). So he stayed a while, we all went to eat lunch, he walked us around the campus some. I think he and will get along okay, though I do keep in mind that I was the " mom " and teens (or " young men " ) will be on good behaviors around " mom. " Roommate has a good sense of humor, a sly wit, seems not to be the partying type as in " bad/worrisome " partying, LOL. So hopefully a good fit for him & to room together. Roommate left later and ('s twin) and I hung around the afternoon. When we finally left, just had this " look " which I took as maybe anxiousness or something. Whatever it was, noticed it too. He said it was like didn't know what to do. I did unpack his clothes for him and made his bed up for him but left all the rest for him to unpack and put up. His apartment is nice but the shower rod was broken so he is supposed to see about getting one. However, he can't get his internet to work there and apparently to request a new shower rod you do that " online. " Ugh! So - without internet and facebook to spend time on is really bored from what I could tell when I called him. Oh - I did call him later that night around 10 pm and then called him Thursday evening. He does seem a bit lonely or at loose ends. He did walk and find out where his classes were and that it takes 20-25 minutes to walk there. I'm not calling him today, figure I'll call Saturday. So that's a brief update! Those of you who have " watched " him grow up over the years since I joined this group (he was in 6th grade!) know that *I* am anxious over this too so bear with me on my worrisome days posting here. I can imagine his OCD is worsening a bit without distraction there of his computer/internet! > > Wow, Chris! I can't believe he's already off to college! Guest guest
It seems like he grew up overnight! I know that will happen to all of us sooner or later. When do his actual classes start? Did he locate a new church in the area? I know that he connects there and it may fill in some gaps for him in the transition. Dina
Guest guest
Hi Well, I will certainly understand your worries, this is a pretty big step!!! Glad the roommate seems like a good fit, I know this must be a concern. Somehow I'm thinking that shower curtain will not be at the top of the priority list.... the internet will though -hope that one can be sorted out soon for him, now that's a big deal! I hope you are doing something to keep yourself distracted from thinking about it all too much!!! Hugs to you! Barb > > > > Wow, Chris! I can't believe he's already off to college!
