The best place I have found for styles and selection is on Zappos.com. They have free shipping and free returns too! And you get them really quick! I get Mac New Balance tennis shoes there. Guest guest Posted October 4, 2010 Report Share Posted October 4, 2010 We use a full service shoe store, it just doesn't work to go to superstores such as Kohls, etc. They do not carry our size (wide) and I need a professional to assure me that the shoe size is correct. People with Down syndrome often have problems with their feet. The shoes can run a little more, but we try to get them on sale. Lots of folks have foot problems and require special shoes, you should have access to a full service shoe store in your area. That's the cheapest place I've found wide shoes. Not a huge selection, but we usually have 2-3 different ones from which to choose. Have you tried wide or extra wide? Guest guest Posted October 5, 2010 Report Share Posted October 5, 2010 You could try some lambs wool in the toe area to protect her toes...I think you should look for shoes with a wider toe space vs narrow such as ballet type shoes which give no support. I agree with previous poster suggesting to be fit by a professional at a full service shoe store. All my children have more full feet and we have bought pretty much all of our shoes from Stride Rite and tend to favor the European shoes as many of them runner fuller. Yes, they are more expensive so we don't have as many pairs but boy do we get every penny out of them. They fit, they are comfortable and the kids love them. Bonus most are really cute and stylish! Thus, an insol,, but that just made her cry.. so those are now gone. She also needs strength in her thighs to help her knees. Has anyone tried the Reebok shoes.. the ones that are suppose to help tone? Ziptone..
