Hi Debbie,

I have been usind Native Remedies since January of this year for my 9yo daughter

who has OCD and ADHD. We currently use BrightSpark, Mindsoothe Jr and Focus

Formula as well as Coromega-Omega 3 Squeeze and Voots (these are whole food

supplements). Since school started this year, I have had many remarks about how

much more focused and mature my daughter is (her old 3rd grade teacher is now

her math teacher for 4th). This teacher is very familiar w/how unfocused and

anxious my daughter was last year.

There seems to be a dramatic improvement in her focus... On the anxiety/OCD

side of things though, there are still some major issues that surfaced at the

beginning of school this year. Obsessions w/separation from me and my husband...

basically fear of leaving us and occasional " bad thought " OCD kicking in

again... Many tears getting on the bus, etc... I am trying Inositol for this,

but it's only been a week so I really don't know if it's working yet. I'm hoping

this will subside as she gets more accustomed to school. And maybe it would be

worse w/o the Native Remedies?

I have no complaints about the Native Remedy products and have read here that

many have benefitted. Keep in mind though that they take awhile to kick in...

Give it 6 - 8 weeks and see. Also remember that if your children are taking any

Anti-depressants to be careful as the Mindsoothe Jr has St. 's Wort which

can have an adverse affect when taken w/anti-depressants.

I hope you and your family find relief and that this information is of help. We

are all here for each other and that is another huge help.

Hugs,

Jen

In addition to supplements or medicines - another very natural approach is ERP

therapy. It is really just a retraining of the brain to overcome a part of the

brain that is not working correctly. It is very effective, used alone or in

combination with supplements or meds. And it is the only solultion that will

outlast the medicine or supplement, and work when meds are not available! It is

sometimes hard to find the right therapist, but well worth the hassle in the

long term.

Wishing you all the best - in NC

Some here have tried some Native Remedy products and some felt they really

helped. I think the more " popular " ones mentioned were the Mindsoothe and the

PureCalm. I believe they were only using these products (or type products) to

target OCD/anxiety, weren't on any prescription meds. You might also look at

fish oil to help with mood. Though at his age, might be the start of puberty

kicking in there some too!

consult " tomorrow, so I guess I'm stuck until then. In the meantime, I've been

doing research on more natural alternatives.

been diagnosed with anything, but has anger and accountability issues.

Very good reminder , about ERP/CBT. Lifelong tools! The right therapist

(and therapy) can give amazing results; in a few weeks in some cases. Sigh,

though for so many it takes much longer!

and all,

thanks for replying! I don't plan to use the Mindsoothe until maybe this

summer; she's doing pretty well it seems in school so far and i'm not messing

with that!

We are initiating therapy again and seem to have found a good counselor. He's

not a Dr. but has extensive experience in treating OCD with ERP and has a

no-nonsense, less talk, more action kind of approach which is what

needs. All we're waiting for to get started is the school observation he wants

to do first before she know who he is. That'll be around the 30th of this

month. Today I find out 's psych results, so please say a few little

prayers it's nothing too bad!

My son is getting two D's in school, and I talked to him last night about the

Native Remedies stuff; he's all for it. We've been trying the fish oil (I even

took some), but they can't stand the taste and can't swallow the pills (they're

huge!), so we're trying to figure something out about that, plus I felt like my

breath smelled like fish all day!

Hi Debbie,

We are using better tasting Coromega Fish Oils. They come in a squeeze pack and

taste better... kind of like orange sherbet. You can keep them in the

refrigerator and they aren't too bad either. Also, if you buy them over and

over, you get one free (I think it's buy 3 get the 4th free or buy 4, get the

5th free) if you save the UPC symbols. My daughter is an extremely picky eater,

but manages to take one of these squeezees every day. Hope that can help! You

can order them at www.coromega.com. There are " tasty ideas " on the website too,

where you can use them in recipes. Enjoy.

I hope things get better for you!

For Fish Oil, there is a brand of gummies, that our daughter can tolerate - it's

called Nordic Omega. And it really does not taste fishy or cause fishy breath.

She takes them in the morning & at night, and takes the same brand for

multivitamins. The multi is yummier, so we do " multi, fish, multi " to keep it

all tasting good. You can find on-line or in health food stores.
