Guest guest
Best wishes, Jen, as someone else who treasures this group! I hope things go well for you and your daughter as you embark on this next phase. My dd9 will be started on meds next Friday we hope, at her first psychiatrist visit. We just started Melatonin the last few nights, and it has been remarkable. The first night, as she drifted off to sleep, she whispered " I was having OCD thoughts, but I just flicked them away. " Brave girl! Last night was even a more peaceful transition into sleep. It's amazing how it feels to have her quietly go to sleep at her normal time now...we hadn't realized how chaotic our nights had become until we got out of the fog and now can experience something different. We hardly know how to act, having some adult TV time at night now again! :-) Thank you to this group for the Melatonin suggestion, and the positive remarks about medication and the benefits it can provide. As OCD continues to creep into more areas of our daughter's life, we are hopeful that we can stop this tide before it gets too bad. Subject: Re: OCD and Puberty To: Date: Friday, September 25, 2009, 8:11 AM I just want to thank you all for your encouraging words and thoughts. I don't know how I could function without this support group! I needed some hopeful words, and we have decided to try medication for my daughter. After reading your stories of how your children benefitted, I can't help but think that this will indeed help my daughter. We have been living a nightmare right along w/her and I don't see any improvements over the last couple of months... only things deteriorating. Today we are meeting w/her psychiatrist and believe that Prozak will be what is perscribed (I discussed at length on the phone w/her already). My daughter even prayed last night saying, " Please help me because I don't know if I can take this much longer. " HEARTBREAKING to hear that from a 9 year old! I'm praying that the medication will be the miracle she is praying for. Thank you again. Jen
