Guest guest
Way to go. Never mind the successes that have been the reality of the last few years in most of Afghanistan. Schools, hospitals, return of commerce, etc.. Only in parts of Afghanistan is there much trouble, and those are in areas that border Pakistan. If the Taliban didn't have that safe haven, they'd be gone. More to the point, there is no moderate Taliban, at least nothing that we could work with. They all want to return strict Islamic rule to Afghanistan. I suppose a Taliban moderate might be one who would only want to blow up the girl's schools, but not kill the girls who attended it, maybe the teachers though. Showing weakness on the international stage is ALWAYS a bad thing, even it if it true. You don't want to be belligerent, arrogant or pushy, but calmly assured, giving an air of security. Make others think that if they mess with you you will trash them but good. Of course, you might actually have to do it once in a while, so be ready to do just that. I think ... in the southern regions of the country, you're seeing them attack in ways that we have not seen previously," Obama said in the interview, which was posted Saturday on the Times' Web site. There may be opportunities to reach out to moderates in the Taliban, but the situation in Afghanistan is more complicated than the challenges the American military faced in Iraq, Obama said. There is no moderate Taliban. It was a repressive state under their control and if Obama concedes, that will be what Afghanistan becomes once more. Chances are they will agree to whatever it is Obama wants, Obama will withdrawal the troops, and then the Taliban will go back to business as usual. Plus, they will use these negotiations as one big commercial opportunity. They will say the US has been brought to its knees and cannot stand to fight anymore. This will pave the way for other radical Muslim groups to make headway into other parts of the world. Adminsitrator Administrator
