Guest guest
There would be four ways to "cure" Autism. 1. A prenatal genetic test to determine if the Fetus has Autism. If it does, then abort it. 2. A prenatal genetic test to determine if the Fetus has Autism. If it does and it is early stage enough, then an aggressive, made in a lab, Prometheus Virus is injected into it. This virus would infect the Fetus cell by cell, rewriting the Fetus's genetic code according to the Virus's programming. 3. Prospective parents would report to "pre-natal health clinic" to have present their genetic material: eggs for the women and sperm for the men. Said material would be screened by the clinic to rule out any of a list of undesirable genetic traits, which will probably mean a level of alteration of the DNA by the clinic. The goal of this would be to produce something close to a natural baby, but with government approved genes. 4. For the already born it would be far more complicated. Another kind of Prometheus virus would be required to alter the genetic code of the entire human being. This would probably require a lengthy hospital stay on some kind of IV or life support system and full monitoring. No telling what issues would arise as the virus slowly altered the subject cell by cell. Now, all of this requires a great deal of trust, the list roughly being from lowest level of trust to highest. Given the lack of trust most people have in the medical profession already and how it will become in the very near future, very few people would be willing to let government doctors monkey with their genes. Not only might they mess up, but what else might they be changing while they are at it and you couldn't do anything about it? Another possibility is a kind of blood borne bacteria that could release chemicals that simulate pharmaceuticals. Something like this is in the works for diabetes for insulin control. Why not something that will cause an increase in dopamine to control anxiety, or something to devour stress hormones and adrenaline, making people calmer. Probably one of of the first would be something that consumes alcohol or other recreational toxins so a person doesn't get so drunk or suffer long-term damage. That would be a good way to wear down resistance in a pleasure obsessed society. In a message dated 4/9/2009 12:37:59 P.M.
