Guest guest
Where I went to college, the crows did the same thing. The campus had pecan groves on parts of the campus. The crows would pick up pecans from under the trees. Since they couldn't get through the tick outer shell, so they would fly up high and drop the pecan on the ground to break it. What is interesting is that they learned that the blacktop didn't work very well, but the concrete sidewalks were very effective at cracking the shells. In addition, people would often step on them and crack them. I once saw a documentary where some birds who lived in a busy city and ate hard-shelled nuts, had learned to drop the nuts onto the road so cars would run over them and crack the shells. When the traffic was stopped so pedestrians could cross, the birds would fly down and pick the nuts up. They did this day after day to get their food. Join ChristianMingle.comĀ® FREE!
