When I had a tooth pulled, the oral surgeon gave me a prescription for some potent pain medicine. Not a lot, just a few pills. Didn't need to fill it though because extra strength Tylenol did the job. I was glad of that because I had been reading about the bad side effects of these medicines and I didn't want to take them anyway.

Things like this just make me wonder about all the other medicines out there, the ones that are heavily advertized and mention all the terrible side effects. How much of the research into them as crooked as well? Why is it that many other studies show that older medicines that have been around for decades work just as well as these expensive new medicines?

The hospital has asked the journals to retract the studies, some of which reported favourable results from painkillers including Pfizer Inc.'s Bextra, Celebrex and Lyrica and Merck & Co. Inc.'s Vioxx. His studies also claimed Wyeth's antidepressant Effexor could be used as a painkiller. Need a job? Find employment help in your area.
