Guest guest
Hi Yes, she used to compulsively have forced bowel movements each time she went potty, so 5-7 times a day, and really bad at night before bed (would force " everything out " since she wouldn't be going potty all night, so would get practically hysterical sitting there for 20-30 minutes pushing). So yes, we started tracking it, and encouraging her to push less and less, only when she really felt the urge. She seemed to improve, I did not see her pushing as often in my presence at least. But it's very hard to track at school, she gets tired of me asking about her poop! (And she can't seem to tell the consistency of her poop either, which is tricky.) Ugh! So now we find out via x-rays that she is not emptying completely. We're working on Miralax and more fiber to help out. But her appetite is still low. She claims that she doesn't want to get " too full " because she'll feel stuffed, but she's barely nibbling. She talks like she's afraid of feeling bad with a tummy ache, but not really afraid of " vomiting " per se. Some nights she also struggles with the urination problem so common with many kids with parents on this listserv, where she keeps feeling the need to empty out over and over, until she's crying and agitated and can't get to sleep because of the feeling of her bladder. Gosh, these kids just seem to totally lose touch sometimes with their body, and what should feel " normal " . Subject: Re: " Dizzy and Swooning " Update To: Date: Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:02 AM Hi , so is she not doing BMs at all, just holding it? Was she working on not doing the BMs as much since previously she was forcing it? Is she saying anything at all about the " why " she's not emptying bowels and less of an appetite? I know with OCD that sometimes if hoarding is a problem, it can carry over to things like BMs. Well, maybe not if hoarding is involved, but I know I've read about problems with OCD and sort of not wanting to " let things out of body " like a BM or urination. Or it could just be OCD telling her " not to " , with OCD a variety of illogical reasons can exist as you know. So sorry this problem has gone the opposite! Keep us updated. Is she doing any better since you posted this? > > Hi all, > > So my dd that I wrote about earlier continued to be dizzy at school, which was new, so off to the ped doc. Radiographs showed she's not emptying bowels (we thought she was better because she was no longer forcefully having bowel movements all day long due to compulsion.. .she swung back the other way apparently), bloodwork was all normal, but she has lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks because appetite is so off (then had major panic attacks leaving doctor after blood draw).
