Guest guest
Cassy, I just had to jump in here....I know exactly how you feel, but not > for the same reasons. My DH's fathers BD is on Christmas Eve and the kids > are all " required " to spend the evening with him. He is a hateful old man > who has nothing good to say about anyone or anything. My DH and his brother > run the family farm and his Dad (who should have retired years ago) just > runs around in his pickup all day and tells the boys what a terrible job > they are doing and they should have done " something " this way or that way, > and when they do, they still don't get it right and he finds something else > to downgrade them for...sorry, getting off the track... I decided two years ago that I was not going down there anymore, it wasn't worth it to me to see him doing that to my DH all year and then be expected to celebrate his BD. In fact, I have banned him from my home whilel I am here. I do believe that my DH won't be going this year either. We have just realized that it isn't in our best interest to surround ourselfs with it. I would rather stay at home alone on Christmas eve than spend it with him....and it has really helped me to " let go " of the bad feelings I have for him....I live for me and my family now. You will be in my thoughts and prayers this TG that everything goes peacefully and you can find the way to relax and enjoy the day where ever you are.
