Joe,

the whoosh, whoosh is your carotid artery. That was my first symptom of my

hydrocephalus besides the awful headaches, the pressure in my brain was so

high it was pressing my carotid up against my ear drum. Your dizziness and

loss of sensation really concerns me. Why you are hearing that could be

numerous reasons but I think you need to call someone immediately, you could

have an arterial blockage that is restricting blood flow etc. causing the

dizziness, or you could for some reason have increased intercranial pressure

It could also be an inner ear infection that is making you dizzy too, so

don't panic, but you need to get checked right away. If you are feeling

like that now I would highly recommend you visit the ER.

As for the phantom fevers, I think everyone here gets them, don't understand

it myself, sometimes I get bright red and hot and feel like I must be 103,

and it is 98.2. other times I am 101 and dry as can be and white.

-- Symptoms questions

Hey guys...

I have a question about some symptoms that I have seen several of you

mentioned before. First, I get these amazing pressure headaches that start

in the base of my neck. The pressure then spreads to the top of my head and

behind my eyes. I hear my pulse in my ears as a whoosh, whoosh sound. It

feels like someone is trying to blow up a balloon inside my head. The worst

part is if I look up, or turn my head to either side, I feel exceptionally

dizzy and then I lose sensation in my left arm and leg. My left arm will

even jerk uncontrollably for several seconds. The whole episode only last

about a minute, but it has happened while I was driving. Have to pull over

to prevent me from causing an accident. I've seen some of you mention

pressure related headaches. Anything similar?

The other weird symptom that I have seen floating around is a " fake " or

phantom " fever. I got that right now. I feel cold with shivers, but no

fever!!! In fact I haven't run a fever in over two weeks!! Yeah!! But

right now I even feel feverish. Anybody else experience this?

I appreciate the help on this. BTW, I have tapered my steroids to 20mgs per

day (down from 40mg) and take 10mg of Arava. About a month ago I was taking

9 prescriptions per day, 9!!! But now I am down to only 2 and they seem to

be working well (crossing my fingers). These two are working so well that I

have postponed Remicade treatment. Both me and my rheumy do not feel that

Remicade is necessary right now. It remains an option for the future if

things go back to the way they were, or get worse. But hopefully that won't

happen!

Take care my family,

Joe
