As we know, ABA therapists have > no real certification process, aba toilet trained Ravi in a week. I think certain things related to health should be covered. Safety awareness, in the case of a person who bolts or wanders (location devices)Service dog moneies for extreme cases, toilet training in children over 4. (that only took a week) At that time I was just trying to keep him safe and vomit free; toilet training was beyond me. Teaching is not the job of insurance companies, but preventive safety should be(especially in extreme cases) These things should be determined case by case not blanket. I have state insurance and it is a lot of red tape but they have paid for safety issues. They were actually providing diapers, having him trained meant no more diapers. over time they have cut back, I have been very lucky, i never abused what I recieved bc I didn't want to risk losing what was needed (also lying is too hard )

People lie and betray because there is no punishment for being a sleez, if people lost things for bad behavior, life would be better (maybe that is naive) but look at the slew of cases that have failed to punish unprofessionalism, meanness, lies, betrayal. Maybe I am just stating the reasons I don't leave my house very often sigh
Guest guest
" aba toilet trained Ravi in a week. " ABA therapy is inconsistent across the board. There is no standardized training and some ABA therapists practice medicine without a license. These therapists are being prosecuted in the state of Oregon in the US. Additionally, there is a laundry list of clients who have been abused by ABA therapists who gravitate more toward the Lovvas method that intensive behavioral intervention. It is good that your therapist had success with Ravi, but it is important for people to know that it is a crapshoot about whether or not they will get a good therapist. I have always resisted ABA for Ravi and what ABA means is always open for discussion. many will tell you modern or modified ABA is what they use. Which in short means repetition, and positive reinforcement rather than negative reinforcement. I was only pointing out that in the case of training a person to preform a task is a place where repetition training can work. Ravi ABA for toilet training meant every 20 min he was taken to use the toilet. Within a week and after praise for evacuating in the " restroom " ravi understood that 1. it was ok and clean to evacuate, and 2. The process would not hurt him. In retrospect Ravi was averse to the sound of flushing. In many cases, he still is. He refuses often to use public restrooms (these are often louder)
