It took about about 10 days to stablize on it. He uses it at bedtime to help him stay asleep along with ambien (a sleeping pill). He has definately been helped greatly to get to sleep and stay asleep. He had a lot of difficulty calming down for sleep and the ambien could not be increased. I hope things are improving for your daughter!!!! She did do well on Risperdal, except it made her lactate, and Geodon which she has remained on for the last couple of years. So sorry you are going through this. Do let us know how it goes tomorrow. Our son did not do well with any of the anti psychotics. When they are in such a severe state with the OCD, and the anxiety high, I think sometimes any medication heightens things. The case for ours anyway. Really hope they have some new thoughts. So crummy the whole trial approach. There is research on testing to determine what meds will be most beneficial, can only hope it becomes available soon... Hugs to you Jennie!!! Guest guest Posted August 12, 2009 Report Share Posted August 12, 2009 The increase seems to be working,so far. The DR just said,the school will probably want to home-bound her and she said do not let this happen!,because she will eventually be afraid to come off the front porch. she wrote a note that she can have the meds every 3 hours if needed. She ended up spending almost 3 years unable to go to school and eventually very rarely ever being able to leave the house. She ended up in an intensive inpatient program for 60 days and is finally able to live her life again. It can be lead to situation that the person just can not get themselves back out of.
