Guest guest
Hey Fellow Stilligan's: Had CT Scan this am. Doc's Office phoned this pm with the results: I have " severe COPD " . Apparently brought out by Still's. Ironically, I quit smoking a little more than 3 months ago. I understand that COPD is treated with Prednisone.....i'm already there. Anyone else out there with this added diagnosis. I am a bit scared.....oh hell, i'm scared to death! For some reason, ever since I was little, I have had this terror of dying by smothering, drowning, suffocating, etc. some pulmonary thing.....now I get this diagnosis and it bothers the hell out of me! I know COPD is treatable and have had patients with various stages of COPD. I need to hear from you guys. The doc's office is going to fax everything to my RDs Monday so they'll know what's up and what to offer. Anyway, help? Have apain-free evening! Thanks! Larry B. (my initial x-rays in early Jan. showed healthy lungs). Thank you Sir Stills!! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Larry, Well actually when I was in the hospital trying to " croak " they came up with the ideal that I had atypical pneumonia. This was actually before I had a firm diagnosis of Stills Disease. OK so I had this pneumonia stuff again. I say again because I had had pneumonia out of the blue before a couple of times. Then after being diagnosed with Stills, I went to see primary white coat because I was feeling kinda tight in the chest and a little wheezy, and was told I had asthma. Anyway he fixed me up with albuteral inhaler that kinda seems to help. I do not use it all of the time, but will use it if feel a little tight in the chest. I also had testing done in relation to working around asbestos for a number of years. So that bunch of white coats that work for the lawyers say I have what ever industrial lung disease that goes with that. Oh by the way, I am still waiting in line for that deal. Yeah, I think there are a few of us that have lung issues, most likely related to the Stills Disease. Maybe they will get you fixed up with something like albuteral inhaler or something. I use mine actually very sparingly, but it does seem to really help me. Seems to me that it helps clear up whatever before it gets worse and I really get that atypical pneumonia stuff or whatever again. Good luck. Hey we got lots of snow and rain here in Montana, lets hope it keeps it up and breaks this darn drought we have had for seven years now. Guest guest
Larry, I don't have this but my mother does, she quit smoking over 10 years ago and is treated now with Advair. Her's is well managed medically and the doctor told her because she quit when she did she probably never will have to go on oxygen. I quit smoking in the fall of 2002 and every time I wheeze or have a tiny cough I panic as well and understand your fear. Hopefully they will get you on a good treatment plan and you will be able to manage this. So sorry for the added bad news, I do understand, having multiple diagnoses myself!!
