Guest guest
If you think you hate them now, wait until they begin to flicker. Additionally, they do not seem to provide as much brightness nor is the light they provide uniform and equally distributed. Of course my parents cannot see this because they do not have " autistic eyes " like I do. Administrator The other day I broke down and bought one of those new Fluorescent bulbs for my lamp. I really hate these things. My feelings only increased when I saw on the bulb itself it says " contains mercury, dispose of according to state and federal law. " In other words, the damn thing is technically toxic waste. The clean up rules if one of these things breaks practically requires a HAZMAT team to come and decontaminate your entire house. However, the government, in cahoots with General Electric, have outlawed incandescent bulbs in favor of these things.

" <posted completely tongue-in-cheek> Someone should send McCarthy and her militant TACA anti- vaccine " Vaccines Cause Autism " groups information on that. If mercury that is not existent in childhood vaccines causes Autism, surely fluorscent bulbs that do contain mercury must be FAR more dangerous!!! They should be marching in protest over these fluorescent bulbs. Imagine all the people who are going to suddenly become Autistic in the next few years because of those fluorescent bulbs! wrote: " ... <snip> ... Guest guest
" I'm buying a lot of incandescent for some times. " Probably a good idea. They may stop manufacturing those after a while....until the " Mercury causes vaccines " people suddenly cotton on to the fact that there is mercury in these new blubs. Then they will want the incandescents again. Administrator
Guest guest
" Many times I have heard fluorescent tubes hissing or whirring when no one else did. " It's the gas inside the tubes heating up inconsistently as the valences in the fixtures go on the fritz, or as the gas eventually crystalizes on the tubes and cause the remaining gas to burn inconsistently.
